It is no exaggeration to suggest that the Covid Pandemic has changed everything. We could not have imagined back in 2019 as we celebrated the dawn of a new year that our lives were about to change, change dramatically. We faced into the unknown, the vast majority of us were told "Stay at home"…..Such a blunt message, delivered to us in stark fashion.
Thankfully the message has changed, we're in a different place. Slowly but surely we in Ireland are emerging from the giant shadow of Covid with the final remaining restrictions set to be lifted on Monday 28th of February 2022. We are now in a dramatically different place to those scary days and we owe a huge depth of gratitude to our Frontline Healthcare workers. In Ireland, from March 2020 right up to the present day, our Nurses have been heroes. That is widely accepted by Irish People.
In fact it has been something of an awakening for us. The realisation that we are totally dependent on our Nurses. We know now that they are one of the very few professions who can’t hide, can’t stop, can't "stay at home"…. can’t protect themselves. And now, at long last, Nurses are gaining the recognition they deserve.

Nurses in Ireland, particularly in the Private sector are being rewarded for their skills, qualifications, dedication and hard work. The emphasis in Ireland now on private care has seen Irish Nursing homes and Private Hospitals become increasingly attractive workplaces to Nurses. Pay and conditions have improved demonstrably. Issues such as work permits, visas, adaptation and training are handled in a far more efficient and timely manner than applies in the public sector. The Nursing Home sector has moved quickly to separate itself as a strong, flexible and dynamic player within the Irish Healthcare Sector
The Covid era has been a desperately difficult time for everyone but lessons have been learned by many. We in Ireland now all see our Nurses for what they are. A vital part of all our lives. They are being treated now as such.
